How to get things done when you have a new baby
Once your baby is born and you bring him/her home from the hospital, all of that time you didn’t know what to do with when you were pregnant, is out the door. My little guy is now two months old and this is the second blog post I’ve written since he’s been born!
Goes to say, I don’t have time for diddly squat anymore, including keeping myself showered and groomed. Taking care of a newborn is no joke, so to make things a bit easier for you busy moms who need a little extra time to get stuff done, here are a few items that have really helped me get going with my busy life.
Keeping the baby entertained!
First things first. We can’t always have our face in our baby’s face 24-7, even though I know some of you would just love to stare at their cute little chubby cheeks all day long. As much as I love to make my baby smile and take note of every single coo and grunt, I simply don’t have time to do it every minute of every day! Also, it’s really good for your baby to start using his motor skills and educate his brain with new sounds, colors, and textures other than your face.

So, what do we do about it? We get an activity pad!
If you aren’t careful, getting supplies for baby can get very quickly out of hand. From the baby swing, to the diaper changer, to the activity pad, diapers, baby bath - the list goes on. Before you know it your house looks more like a baby day care center and less like a home.
We live in a world where buying in excess is easy to do. With my first baby, we used a lot of things that were hand-me-downs, or donated since we were living in my parents basement. Fast forward seven years later with our second baby, and we are once again living in my parents basement, haha! That’s a whole other story and I’ll get to that another time.
Thankfully we kept a lot of things from our first, which is always the best, but we needed to purchase a few items that we didn’t end up keeping around for seven years.
One of them being the activity mat. I did my research on this as I refused to believe a child needs to be overstimulated with ridiculous plastic, loud, and unnecessarily obnoxious colors and textures.

Baby Swing Review
My baby Jack Jack enjoying his swing in style all strapped in! Safety first!
Another great way to entertain your little guy while you’re getting things done is a baby swing. Honestly, I think there are many great options out there, but I just opted for this one. It’s inexpensive and also Amazon’s Choice!
What’s great about it is that it has a timer. I always forget to turn things off when I get distracted by a poopy diaper or something, so the automatic shut off it a must for me.

Baby Carrier Review
Okay, so I have many thoughts on baby carriers. After purchasing my Ergobaby Carrier, I was so bummed becuase my little guy would scream every time I put him in it. I couldn’t get ANYTHING done because I had to hold him all the time.
Fast forward to now him at two-months old, you can tell he loves it VERY much. I knew it wasn’t the carriers problem because I would attempt to put him in his Moby Wrap, which he hated as well. I just had to keep putting him in it and get him used to it.
Now he LOVES it and I can finally get things done by strapping him in and going on my merry way. Sometimes I feel like I’m ignoring him a bit when I plop him in a swing and leave him there for a bit, but with the carrier, he can feel that I’m close while he sleeps. He actually sleeps longer and better when he’s in it!
When it comes to choosing the one for you, it’s always best to take your baby somewhere you can try them on and see if your baby likes it. I did that with Jack and a the time he acted like he liked it, but it wasn’t until we got home and tried he screamed his head off at every attempt to put him in it.
My opinion on the Ergobaby is that it is an AWESOME carrier for all seasons, especially summer. The mesh fabric is breathable so you’re not smothering your baby and making him sweat in the heat of the summer. It has a nice little pocket to put things in, as well as an attachable little fanny pack sort thing.
It’s VERY safe and adjustable to whatever size you and your baby are. It has safety straps so that if a clip breaks, there is a second catch so your baby can’t just fall off.
Here’s what I love BEST about it. You can switch it to all carry positions! That means, as your baby grows to toddler age, you can have him front facing, on your back, on your hip, or his belly against your chest for newborns.
It’s truly the best carrier I could find that is out there that not only grows with your baby, but is machine washable, breathable, has a sun cover, and has been awarded for it’s ergonomic design. We simply love it, especially Jack.
Baby Carseat Stroller/Carseat Carrier
I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to carrying the carseat from the car to the gym, or the car to anywhere really. I have a BIG BABY, and my wrists can hardly handle carrying the awkwardly shaped carseat from A to B. I just can’t do it.
So, that’s when this amazing carseat stroller/carrier comes in handy. It’s so incredibly practical I can hardly stand it.
So, we leave our everyday stroller at home or bring for long stroller walks, and the carseat stroller we leave in the car! It has a nice basket on the bottom for quick grocery store errands, and is just so darn practical. I found that you don’t need anything fancy with this one. It’s just something to make those in and out trips that much easier so you can get other things done!

I hope these reviews help you out! I know it can be a grueling task to try and figure out what you need for your baby. In my opinion, these products are AMAZING for giving you the time you need to take care of other things in your life.
Life with a new baby is hard, so if you aren’t equipped with the right things, it can make it even harder. I know, I’ve been there!
